First Dutch Career Day takes place at famous Fudan University

Dutch companies in China can meet and greet more than 100 top students from Fudan School of Economics. The first Dutch Career Day is organized on 31st October in Shanghai. In this event, companies get the opportunity to meet Chinese students from top university in person who know a lot about the Netherlands and attract them for job vacancies. Companies can share their value proposition by a company presentation, participate in an informal lunch and give optional private workshop to the students.

The Dutch Career Studies Center Fudan Groningen is an initiative from Groningen University in the Netherlands and Fudan University in China. The Center wants to carry out teaching and research programmes on the Dutch economy, politics, society and culture, cultivate experts and talents in the field of Dutch Studies, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and exchange between China and the Netherlands. Amsterdam looks for international ICT talent

On September 15, Dutch ICT companies including Alliander, Dolby laboratories and the two Amsterdam universities came to discuss ways to solve the shortage of labour in ICT professionals and students. In this round table organised by ITT and the Amsterdam ICT cluster, the increasing importance of attracting ICT professionals from abroad, in particular from China, India and South-Africa was highlighted. Discussions will continue in November in a second round table hosted by the ICT cluster of the Amsterdam Innovatie Motor and ITT.


Retention of talent – Challenge for Dutch companies to steer innovation

The retention of Chinese professionals is an important challenge for Dutch multinational companies to steer their innovation process in China. This turned out to be an important conclusion at the roundtable discussion on innovation at CEIBS campus last week. Philips, Akzo Nobel, Shell, DSM, Unilever and Dow Chemical and Chinese companies like Ctrip discussed what MNCs in China can learn from Chinese companies on innovation. ITT shared its experience that Chinese companies are more flexible to offer top talent interesting career perspective than Dutch companies. A new roundtable discussion will be organized in November 2011 to share more experience on innovation and talent.


ITT Human Capital Days for Dutch Polymer Institute

On 13th May, ITT Shanghai held a selection event for the Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI). DPI met 15 preselected Chinese top researchers for PhD and post-doc positions in the Netherlands on the event, which was hosted at the DSM Campus in Shanghai. There were several university partners of DPI participating in the event, including Eindhoven University of Technology, Delft University of Technology and the University of Groningen.


DSF MSc Finance Event

On 15th and 16th May, ITT Shanghai organized for the first time the MSc Finance China Event for Duisenberg School of Finance (DSF). DSF wants to attract qualified Chinese students to go to the Netherlands to do their further studies in Finance through ITT’s deep university network and wide local talent pool. Based on careful selections, ITT invited 25 students with outstanding background to the two-days event to meet DSF in person. The managing director from DSF, Jeroen van Loon, was very pleased about the event and will welcome several of the Chinese participants in September 2011 in Amsterdam who got accepted at DSF after the event.


VCWI China Talent Forum upcoming weekend

VCWI (Association of Chinese Scholars and Engineers in the Netherlands) will organise a China Talent Fair at the Technical University Eindhoven on 21st May 2011. One of the main topics at this fair is to share information about soft skills as required for employees to improve their professional values. ITT attended this fair with a mini training “Intercultural Leadership Program: an introduction”. A new season of the ITT Intercultural Leadership Program for Asian professionals 2011-2012 will soon be launched. The program is specifically developed for engineers, beta professionals and PhD & Post-Doc researchers from Asia working in the Netherlands. Talent key issue for R&D centers in China

More and more international companies set up or expand their R&D centers in China. Realizing this trend, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce (BenCham) launched its BenCham R&D and Innovation Management Platform. During the kick-off event on January 25, Mr. Frans Greidanus, Managing Director Philips Research Asia, said the biggest challenge for R&D centers in China is finding and retaining talents. This opinion was shared by the audience of R&D and business managers. ITT actively contributed  to the discussions on the topic.
